Then you will know that I am the Lord;

those who hope in me will not be disappointed. (Isaiah 49:23 NIV)

 Lord, make me strong in faith,

Help me to trust implicitly

In Your caring, protecting love,

For You shield Your children with Your hand.

Lord, take away from me all fear of suffering and terrors.

Help me, O Jesus, always to look to You,

for you are there, my helper in time of need.

Help me not to miss the urgency of this moment.

In these critical times keep me from day-dreaming.

Day by day keep me alert, ever praying,

Ever pleading that You would be gracious to us.

Lord, teach me to lead a life or prayer now,

So that in times of terror and death,

My prayers will reach You and help will come.

Lord, teach me now to look to You alone for joy,

So that when I am in distress

You can refresh my heart,

Because it will be completely at one with Yours, O Jesus.

Lord, teach me now to come before you humbly,

prayerfully and penitently,

so that at the sight of judgement and devastation,

my heart will not doubt Your love,

will not rebel, will not despair.

Lord, teach me

To break with every addiction to the things of this world,

to hate every sinful desire,

to renounce all status seeking,

so that at the time of testing I will be free. Amen.

23 Kings will be your foster fathers,
and their queens your nursing mothers.
They will bow down before you with their faces to the ground;
they will lick the dust at your feet.
Then you will know that I am the Lord;
those who hope in me will not be disappointed.’  (Isaiah 49:23 NIV)

… but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. (Is. 40:31 NIV)

Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.  (Psalm 27:14 NIV)

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him;

it is good to wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.  (Lam. 3:25 NIV
