Please continue to pray for the Ukraine. Let us pray for those fleeing their homeland in fear; those sheltering  in basements from fighting and shelling; those at the forefront of the conflict; those in leadership.

 A Prayer for Ukraine:

God of peace and justice, we pray for the people of Ukraine today. We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons. We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow, that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them. We pray for those with power over war or peace, for wisdom, discernment, and compassion to guide their decisions. Above all we pray for your precious children, that you would hold and protect them.

We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace,  Amen (Archbishop Justin Welby)

In our prayers this week let us give thanks for our many blessings, and continue to pray for our neighbours, friends and family.

Let us continue to pray for the post-flood restoration work in BC and particularly for the ministry of Christ Church, Hope, B.C. May we remain mindful of the struggles and the conflicts in our own country and pray for wisdom in resolving them.

As we continue in the Season of Lent, let us intentionally uphold in prayer the various crises in our world, that the Lord would redeem our brokenness through His love and bring healing to our world.

 Announcements:

Listening to the Greats. An Online Lent Course led by Dr Hueston Finlay.

The Course will examine the thoughts of five great theologians. We will look at who they were, the questions they faced, and the answers they provided.  This is an introduction to Augustine, Aquinas, Calvin, Schleiermacher and Barth.   This week we will be introduced to Fredrich Schleiermacher:

Friedrich Daniel Ernst Schleiermacher was a German Reformed theologian, philosopher, and biblical scholar known for his attempt to reconcile the criticisms of the Enlightenment with traditional Protestant Christianity.

The course is coming from St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. There will be 5 sessions – one per week. Each session will last less than an hour and will be delivered by Zoom, on Tuesday 1pm (our time). The course is free. You will need to register with: [email protected]

Ladies Bible Study – continues on Thursday mornings in the church hall at 9:45.  (Norma Schofield, [email protected])
